Burano from across a Barena in Bloom

Limonium vulgare--or what is known in English as Common Sea-lavender--is now in bloom on the barene in the north lagoon.

  1. C'est magnifique, j'aime quand la lagune se recouvre de ces fleurs.

    1. It really is beautiful, VenetiaMicio, as you say--I'd only ever really read about it before.

  2. Too bad I can get the smell of the "barena" by computer. Once in a while I get a sniff of the smell of "marsalato" around the Bay Area, and I then inhale deeply closing my eyes.

    Lovely plants, thank you.

    1. It's funny, Laura, that I'm sometimes happy to catch a whiff of seaweed and water here that reminds me of the Santa Cruz, CA area of my childhood. But it's not the same.
